The following are some instructions and helpful hints for protecting yourself from injury and, at the same time, taking advantage of the tremendous utility and labor savings afforded by modern chainsaws.

A chainsaw is not a toy. Be absolutely sure to thoroughly read the operator's manual supplied with your chainsaw. Follow exactly the manufacturer's cutting chain sharpening and other chainsaw maintenance instructions. The following information is not meant to replace the information provided in the operator's manual for your specific chainsaw.

Cutting chain can cause injury if incorrectly fitted to a chainsaw or if the saw is used improperly. Install, adjust and maintain the chain as recommended. Beware of kickback, particularly when cutting with the bar nose. Kickback can lead to dangerous loss of control of the chainsaw and result in serious injury to the saw operator or bystanders. Before using any chainsaw, thoroughly read the manufacturer's operating and safety instructions
